HR Business Partner, Retail Stores

Job Description The HR Business Partner is a key partner for associates and leaders across various business units, supporting all HR‑related activities and initiatives. This role will work with management and non‑management associates to identify issues that may affect associate engagement, commitment, and effectiveness, and assess opportunities to improve communication and strengthen working relationships. The position supports Retail Store, Distribution, Transportation, and Print Hub teams. Key Responsibilities Identify issues that may affect associate commitment and effectiveness through site visits, meetings with field representatives, and other methods; partner with management to establish, maintain, and enhance an engaging work environment. Provide counsel and support to managers in managing performance, including progressive counseling, action plans, and documentation; prepare for and partner with managers to conduct terminations when required. Communicate and partner with all associates regarding performance concerns, progressive counseling, work or work/life issues, policy issues, and requests for information; ensure concerns or issues are investigated and resolved appropriately and support return‑to‑work plans. Collect and prepare all data required for investigations to ensure legislative compliance. Assist and support the coordination of developmental activities for internal development programs. Lead succession planning initiatives with management teams to develop a talent pool to meet current and future needs. Consult with management teams in facilities on optimizing human capital regarding motivation, resource planning, orientation initiatives, etc.; analyze trends and best practices and make recommendations and provide solutions that support and enhance ongoing initiatives within the facilities. Qualifications Ability to travel locally at least 60% of the time, with access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license. University degree or post‑secondary education preferred. Certificate or degree in Human Resources Management preferred. Previous experience in warehouse/warehouse management an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, Health and Safety legislation, and other relevant employment legislation. Strong ability to build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels. Effective communication skills for a variety of audiences. Understanding of the need for discretion and confidentiality. At least 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, covering recruiting, training, and employee relations.
