Before School Support – LTO – 8.75 hrs per weekApply for the Before School Support – LTO – 8.75 hrs per week role at the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB).OverviewThe role supports early childhood and elementary students in the WRDSB Before and After School Support (B.A.S.S.) program, working alongside a Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) to supervise and provide general student supervision.ResponsibilitiesFollow the guidance of the DECE operating the extended day classroom.Support positive and responsive interactions among the children, parents, childcare providers and staff.Encourage children to interact and communicate in a positive way and support their ability to self‑regulate.Support the children’s exploration, play and inquiry.Support child‑initiated and adult‑supported experiences.Support positive learning environments and inclusive experiences for all children, including those with individualized plans.Support indoor and outdoor play, active play, rest and quiet time, considering the individual needs of the children.Foster engagement and ongoing communication with parents.Follow licensing requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act.Foster an anti‑oppressive, anti‑racist, and inclusive culture where all children feel seen, heard, respected and have the support and resources they need to flourish.Support the health, safety, nutrition and well‑being of the children.Supervise and support children to ensure they are healthy and safe by following Public Health, First Aid and Emergency procedures.QualificationsHold a minimum of a high school diploma, GED or equivalent level of educational attainment.Prior experience supervising and supporting children in a positive and safe manner.Employment ConditionsValid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED or be ready, able and willing to obtain this training as a condition of employment.Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) that is current within 5 years if currently employed with the WRDSB; for new employees current within 6 months.Must complete the Licensed child care staff record requirements, including Region of Waterloo Public Health, Health Assessment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
