Life Enrichment Manager — Sunrise Senior LivingLocation: Sunrise of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, CanadaThe Life Enrichment Manager is responsible for consistently engaging residents in familiar routines of daily living through personalized Life Skills that “Create Pleasant Days” for residents. Life Skills are tasks residents enjoyed in the past that can still bring a sense of success, meaning, and purpose. The Life Enrichment Manager designs Life Skills to reflect each resident’s past interests and provides encouragement, prompts, and hands-on assistance. The role demonstrates the Sunrise Mission, “To champion quality of life for all seniors,” in the Reminiscence neighborhood in accordance with applicable laws, standards, regulations, and Sunrise policies. Life Skills Program Evaluate resident interests and involvement in Life Skills. Develop Life Skills tailored to each resident’s needs and abilities. Engage residents in Life Skills throughout the day and evening. Ensure every resident has the opportunity to engage in Life Skills or other enrichment activities daily. Review resident profiles and ISP (Individualized Service Plan) to determine best Life Skill or activity; communicate with residents and families. Include Life Skills on resident demographic profiles and lead/coordinate with the Reminiscence Coordinator (RC). Organize small groups or clubs addressing residents’ needs/preferences. Ensure Life Skills are reflected in the socialization and leisure sections of the ISP. Model engagement and encourage other team members to participate. Assist residents to and from Life Skills stations and related activities. Record and document resident participation per Sunrise standards. Maintain and expand Life Skills stations and supplies; manage inventory. Assist residents with daily care of animals/plants as part of Life Skills. Resident Focus Review and document Daily Log, Department Log, and ISP details; monitor physical and behavioral changes related to Life Skills. Input on Demographic Profile and ISP to ensure personalized Life Skills reflect past interests and current abilities. Foster positive resident relations and relay feedback to the supervisor. Assist RC to ensure Memory Box is completed within two weeks of move-in. Maintain confidentiality of resident information. Volunteer and Community Focus Support local businesses/organizations and school partners in community volunteer programs under RC/AVC leadership. Assist with volunteer orientations, training programs, and required paperwork per Sunrise standards. Dining Service Serve meals in the dining room and assist with Life Skills activities in the dining room during setup and cleanup. Risk Management and General Safety Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with national/provincial regulations and Sunrise safety policies. Follow safety procedures including use of PPE, fire safety, SDS, and lockout/tagout as applicable. Report accidents/incidents and hazards immediately. Keep cords, carts, equipment, and hazards out of walkways and compliant with fire codes. Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Understand and engage in the Quality Service Review (QSR) process and related standards for resident-centered activities. Ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, local laws and Sunrise quality standards for resident care and services. Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, proper attire, and health standards. Training and Team Contribution Participate as a team member and work toward shared goals. Demonstrate Sunrise values in daily interactions and commitments to residents and guests. Support engagement programs and participate in engagement surveys and improvement planning. Attend regular meetings and ensure compliance with required trainings. Perform other duties as assigned. Core Competencies Ability to manage multiple priorities; strong written and verbal communication; organizational and time management skills. Good judgment, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to work with limited supervision and follow community guidelines. Ability to follow through on assigned tasks. Experience and Qualifications One year of experience with memory-impaired seniors required. High School diploma/GED; additional certifications may be required by regulations. Ability to lead Life Enrichment components and tailor Life Skills to residents’ preferences and abilities. Knowledge of adapting Life Skills to cognitive/functional levels to motivate residents. Ability to inspire volunteers and team members to engage residents in meaningful activities. Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office, and Sunrise applications; ability to learn new systems.
