Our forensic investigation, engineering and environmental services teams around the world share a dedication to expertise and professionalism.PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide field services on environmental investigation projects related to but not limited to emergency response, spill cleanup, contamination assessments, indoor air quality (IAQ), hazardous materials and health and safety (EHS) issues in accordance with assignments from clients or senior professionals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESFirst responder to new losses including transportation accidents and assess the environmental impacts; coordinate containment and remedial activities; travel and work outside standard hours (including at night) required.Conduct site assessments to determine the nature and extent of contamination present and identify potential remedial options for clients.Coordinate and oversee all sub-contractors required in response to an incident and track work efforts to control costs; interact with contractor and subcontractor representatives accordingly.Able to manage workload independently, develop cost-effective approaches, prioritize demands and problem solve effectively.Provide timely reports to clients to update them on all projects and keep management apprised of developments.Ensure that all protocols are followed and reports are completed in a timely manner.Identify conflicts within projects and work to resolve them following discussion with your manager.Prepare project budgets.Monitor efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists; review invoices when received.Assist in the appropriate, accurate, and timely collection of field samples (air, water, soil, etc.) and submit samples to laboratory for testing and analysis.Strong team player and safety-focused; adhere to established methodologies for project management and EFI Global training and safety manuals.Document daily billable and non-billable hours; bill on a time and expense basis for services rendered for projects worked on.Follow industry-accepted methodology for performance of services.Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESComplies with Company’s Safety Programs/StandardsProperly utilizes Personal Protection EquipmentExercises appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased)Complies with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipmentComplies with all Human Resources Policies, Programs, and InitiativesMeets or exceeds productivity levels and daily time submission as determined by managerMust be willing to work in remote areas for potential extended periods of timeMust be willing to respond immediately in some circumstances to emergency situationsProvincial travel is a possibility in this role; ability to fly on short notice is considered an assetMust be willing to work outdoors including in extreme heat and coldAll other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & LicensingHigh School diploma required; bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college preferred. Certification in environmental assessment/remediation is an asset.Valid driver’s license required with a good driving record. May have to drive for extended periods in remote areas.ExperienceMinimum of 2+ years' work experience in emergency response management.Experience in asbestos and lead-based paint surveys and project monitoring, microbial and IAQ investigations, industrial hygiene surveys, soil/water sampling or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education is advantageous.Skills & KnowledgeKnowledge of current industry standards, provincial regulations, techniques, and equipment for Emergency Response and IAQ servicesExcellent oral and written communicationPC literacy including Microsoft OfficeHAZMAT training is an assetGood organizational and interpersonal skillsAnalytical and interpretive skills; problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects and set priorities; work independently and in a teamAbility to meet or exceed performance competenciesWe are committed to inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection processes.
