Department Chair, Radiology and Diagnostic ImagingThe Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta (UofA) invites applications for appointment as the academic Chair of the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging.About the DepartmentThe Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Alberta is a leading clinical and academic centre dedicated to excellence in medical imaging, education and research. The department provides clinical training through Royal College accredited residency programs, fellowship programs and undergraduate electives. Faculty and trainees work across a wide network of hospitals and clinics in the Edmonton region ensuring exposure to a broad spectrum of cases and advanced imaging technologies. The department supports a strong research training program with students in thesis-based MSc and PhD programs. The department is home to world‑class research facilities such as the Peter S. Allen MR Research Centre and the Servier Virtual Cardiac Centre which work in close partnership with FoMD Research Institutes, the Department of Biomedical Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the AI + Health Hub to drive cutting‑edge research and exceptional clinical care.ResponsibilitiesThe Chair will lead collaboratively to advance excellence and innovation in education and research to improve the health of current and future generations.QualificationsEffective, strategic leadership that inspires excellence and fosters collaboration across disciplines and sites.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build, manage, and maintain high‑quality, productive relationships across diverse groups.A record of academic accomplishment and a clear vision for education and research.Creativity and innovation to meet the opportunities and needs of learners, faculty, staff, patients, and communities.Applicants with an MD will hold certification in diagnostic radiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or an equivalent) and be eligible for licensure as a specialist in diagnostic radiology in the Province of Alberta.Application InstructionsA letter of introduction outlining relevant academic and leadership experiences, a vision for the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging, and how your experience makes them an ideal candidate (maximum 3 pages).A description of your leadership philosophy (maximum 2 pages) – the committee welcomes descriptions of past contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).A description of your approach to collaboration with both internal and external partners (maximum 1 page).A curriculum vitae.To reduce unconscious bias, please remove identifying information (e.g., name, age, gender, education, work history) from the leadership philosophy and collaboration statements to support blinded review by the Search and Recommendation Committee.
