Intermediate Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist – WSP, Canada We’re looking for an experienced EIA specialist to conduct environmental impact assessments and manage permitting processes for nuclear, electricity transmission, renewable energy, mining and other energy projects in Ontario. Role Overview As an intermediate Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist, you will: Conduct EIAs, prepare environmental permitting documentation and support consultation and engagement activities with external stakeholders. Coordinate projects across sectors including nuclear, transmission, renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, and oil & gas. Manage small to medium EIAs or assist in large interdisciplinary EIAs, environmental permitting and monitoring projects. Deliver accurate project schedules, budgets, progress reports and quality assurance activities. Represent client projects to regulators, industry groups, environmental groups, landowners, Indigenous communities and the public. Plan and participate in meetings, consultation events and field logistics. Prepare proposals, scope work, budgets and schedules, under senior staff support. Mentor junior staff and collaborate regionally and nationally with other EIA practitioners. Qualifications & Experience Minimum five years of experience conducting and managing EIAs (focus on mining, nuclear and energy projects). Strong understanding of EIA requirements in Ontario and federally in Canada, including the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and/or the federal Impact Assessment Act. Knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory requirements and approvals. Experience managing complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology or related discipline. Full driving licence and clean driver’s abstract. Ability to work independently, within a team and under deadlines. Willingness to travel occasionally and work outside standard hours. Location & Compensation Location: Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. Salary: CA$109,013.00 – CA$127,530.00. Employment Type: Full‑time. Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior level.
