Creating value for great people is what we are all about as there is significant growth potential within our company for the right individual.Our company is looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent Risk Assessor to join the team The successful candidate will support a range of projects alongside our professional and administrative staff. This role is fit for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic environment and are comfortable balancing office-based project management with occasional field work based on project needs.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for the Risk Assessor may include, but are not limited to:Conduct qualitative and quantitative environmental risk assessments in accordance with provincial and federal guidelines and regulations.Develop practical risk mitigation strategies and recommend controls to reduce human health and environmental exposure.Lead risk assessments for Contaminated Site Assessments and Remediation projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.Manage risk assessment projects from cradle to grave, including planning, scheduling, resourcing, reporting, and budget tracking.Analyze environmental data (soil, groundwater, vapour, etc.) to identify potential risks to human health and environmental receptors.Prepare technical documentation, including risk assessment reports, regulatory submissions, and client communications.Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and technical specialists to integrate risk assessment findings into project planning and remediation strategies.Support field investigations and sampling programs as needed.Monitor changes in environmental guidelines and regulations and risk assessment methodologies to ensure compliance and adoption of best practices.Provide training, guidance, and support to staff on environmental risk assessment.Support continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental risk assessment and management.The successful candidate should have the following:QualificationsBachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental risk assessment, contaminated site management, or a related field.Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and risk management frameworks across Canada.Expertise in human health and ecological risk assessments with substantial field experience.Proficiency in data analysis, risk modeling tools, and technical report writing.Solid understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate complex data and develop actionable insights.Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills with the ability to integrate multi-disciplinary information into clear, compelling reports.Professional designation with a relevant association (e.g., APEGA, ASPB, ACPA, AIA) considered a requirement.Valid driver’s license with proven ability to safely operate a vehicle for fieldwork.Exceptional project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.Ability to mentor and support staff, facilitating knowledge transfer and professional development.Along with a competitive compensation and benefits package, Nichols offers a first-class and engaging corporate culture.
