Alpha House’s Outreach Program is a leader in street level response to homelessness, addiction, and mental health. We work closely with first responders, Calgary Police Services, other non‑profits, and The City of Calgary to provide essential care to vulnerable Calgarians and advocate for an end to homelessness. We are currently hiring for open positions in our various Outreach programs to support those affected by substance use.Salary: $68,336 per annual, full benefitsFull Time position, Please note that this position is an overnight role. Hours: 3 on, 3 off, 12 hour shifts: Shifts may require rotating days and overnights.Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Program Director, the Program Managers provide Management support for the agency 24/7. Program managers will be responsible for program development, service delivery and program evaluations, as well as reporting writing and the allocation of staff and financial resources. Program Managers are expected to manage crisis’s, provide critical incident debriefing, and are responsible for performance management of staff.ResponsibilitiesLeads by example, interacts with clients in a caring, non‑judgmental manner, and ensuring staff are doing the sameAs part of the grievance procedure, resolve client concernsProvides training, coaching, mentorship, supervision and all levels of disciplinary action up to and including termination, to staffResponsible for writing, conducting and reviewing performance reviews of staff, and when necessary has the authority to extend probationRespond to and if necessary, investigate concerns and issues brought forward from staff related to Alpha Houses Respectful Workplace Policy, Employee Complaints and Vulnerable Adults Abuse PolicyResponsible for ensuring staff are able to fully function and are motivated to provide high quality client care in a warm and compassionate mannerIs responsible for the recruitment, selection and onboarding of staffResponsible for ensuring adequate shift coverage is provided by sending out available shifts using Shift Link and assigning shifts to staffResponsible for reviewing and approving time off bids/requests as well as ensuring the accuracy and approval of staff’s payAttends to crisis' (i.e. seizures, overdoses and deaths) providing debriefing as a group as well as 1:1 with staff impactedEnsures the safety of staff and clients by being up to date and accountable for safety protocols as well as accreditation and program audit standardsWorks with the Program Director and or HR in resolving problems arising with team functioning and staff issues of a serious naturePartnering, interacting and building positive strategic partnerships with other agencies, community partners, local businesses and stakeholders, including resolving any concerns that may ariseBe accountable for ensuring the accurate collection and submission of data and statistics for funding and outcome reportsEnsure Agency Vehicle log books are being completed properly and report any maintenance issues to the Asset ManagerProvide supervision to Volunteers and practicum studentsDelegate's responsibilities to Shift Supervisors and/or staffResponsible for holding regular program meetings and staff meetingsEnsures the safety of staff in other 24/7 programs by checking in with teams between the hours of 2300 and 0700, seven days a weekParticipates in management meetings including those related to Labour Relations and collective agreement proposalsConduct regular reviews and audits of the Program to identify and verify compliance with accreditation and Alpha House policies, procedures and standardsIn conjunction with staff, respond to emergencies and address community and client complaints, resolving problems, completing program audits and implementing related changesWhile being fiscally prudent, manage the program budget to ensure the program has the necessary supplies to provide quality care to clientsParticipate in direct service provision as needed and to cover when there are gaps in staffingQualificationsPost‑Secondary Education from a public educational institution, in a relevant field, minimum of a 2‑year Diploma Program, Bachelor ’s degree preferred. Those in progress may be considered.A minimum of 3 years of experience successfully managing a team with proven positive results in training, coaching, mentorship and performance management of employeesA minimum of four years’ related experience, at least three of which includes direct experience in addictions, mental health, the homeless population or the indigenousAn understanding of addictions including: withdrawal management, harm reduction, stages of change, trauma informed care and recovery oriented systems of careStrong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate with discretion and maintain confidentiality of clients, staff concerns & disciplinary proceduresExperience in crisis management (deaths, critical incidents etc) including facilitating and debriefing groupsMust be tolerant, non‑judgmental with a high degree of compassion and empathy towards the homeless and those struggling with addictions and or mental healthProven crisis management, problem solving skills, rapport‑building and advocacy skillsBelief in harm reduction and housing firstMust have the ability to work shift work, including overnightsComputer literacy, including effective working skills in MS Word, Excel and OutlookAn understanding and appreciation for the Protection of Persons in Care ActPosition RequirementsClass 5 (Non GDL) driver license and the ability to obtain a Class 4 license within 45 daysComfortable in driving an agency VanAccess to a personal vehicle that can be used for business purposesComfortable in working in an environment with the risk of violence and exposure to bodily fluidsBe able to physically assist clients from prone to sitting or standing, and vice versaAble to provide a Vulnerable Sector Search, valid within the last six months, that does not contain any results material to the positionFOIP Certification“It’s your Move” training, or equivalent Patient Lift training #J-18808-Ljbffr
