Edmonton, Canada GFL Environmental Inc. Full time

Reporting to the Operation Supervisor, the Class 3 Power Engineer is accountable for day to day operations of process units and its ancillaries at the Edmonton facility.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that all units are being operated to GFL standards and in accordance with all government regulations.
  2. Operate, monitor and control process levels, temperatures, pressures and flows for applicable utilities, processes and systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  3. Ensure that the required documentation is legible, accurate and completed on a timely basis.
  4. Use technical expertise to assist process operations in the optimization of all units and equipment.
  5. Identify and recommend improvements to processes and systems.
  6. Perform emergency operation activities as needed.
  7. Regularly attend safety meetings, identify any safety concerns to supervisor, report all incidents and assist in investigations.
  8. Perform mechanical and/or equipment maintenance as required and/or assigned.
  9. Maintain safe and clean equipment and general work area.
  10. Train on unfamiliar processes and equipment, within established guidelines and procedures, as required.
  11. Acquire and maintain adequate certification as required.
  12. Provide guidance, direction and technical expertise to less experienced operators.

Requirements

  1. Hold a valid 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of industrial and/or Oilfield experience is required.
  3. Experience with chemical properties and petrochemical processes is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  2. Strong team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  3. Flexible to work various shifts as shifts can rotate, have extended hours.
  4. Ability to perform physical and labour intensive tasks.
