Structural Engineer

OverviewJob Title: Structural EngineerJob Description: We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer who will be responsible for delivering accurate and efficient designs for projects with varying complexity. The ideal candidate will be an expert in structural calculations, design review, and sealing of drawings, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards.ResponsibilitiesDeliver accurate, efficient, and code-compliant designs for projects ranging in complexity from levels 1 to 10.Perform structural calculations for all building components to optimize material usage.Review and seal drawings, including those prepared by junior engineers (EITs).Ensure timely completion of projects and change orders according to customer schedules.Ensure designs meet building codes, safety standards, and internal policies.Maintain and verify the accuracy of in-house design software and MBS enhancements.Promote and ensure compliance with OHSA and safe work practices.Collaborate cross-functionally with drafting, production, and project management teams.Assist with site and fabrication issues as needed.Support estimating during quoting with VP Technical Services approval.Lead and mentor junior engineers and co-op students.Identify and implement design and process efficiencies.Stay updated on code changes and new technologies.Participate in special projects and shop/field visits to improve design application.Operate with minimal supervision and report to senior leadership.Provide guidance to junior technical staff and engineering students.Essential SkillsProfessional Engineer (P.Eng) certification.Expertise in structural engineering and structural steel experience.Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural design.10 years of overall experience in the field.2-3 years of experience working in Canada.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with STAAD Pro or RISA 3D is transferrable.Leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior staff.Willingness to move to Alymer.Work EnvironmentThe work environment offers potential for fully remote work, providing flexibility and work-life balance.
