Community Planner, Development (Contract up to 18 Months) Join to apply for the Community Planner, Development (Contract up to 18 Months) role at Town of Caledon Responsibilities Manage development applications including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Draft Plans of Subdivisions and Condominiums, Site Plan Control applications, Part Lot Control applications, Committee of Adjustment (Minor Variance, Consent, Validation Certificate) applications, Niagara Escarpment Development Permit applications, and Telecommunication Tower applications. Act as Lead Planner/Project Manager on development applications, providing guidance from initial submission through review and approval. Serve as liaison between planners, applicants, and stakeholders involved in each application. Attend council and other meetings to represent the Department of Planning and advocate for the Town’s planning interests, as directed by the Manager of Development. Prepare evidence for Ontario Municipal Board hearings and other hearings as assigned, with minimal supervision. Represent the Planning Department in major referrals to the Ontario Municipal Board, as directed by the Manager of Development. Develop planning studies and reports related to planning and development matters. Ideal Candidate We are seeking a planning professional with a post‑secondary degree in Planning, BES, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a land‑use planning role. Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and/or Canadian Institute of Planners is preferred. Experience within a municipal environment is considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to make decisions involving multiple routine tasks, affecting the department level, with superior interpersonal skills. The applicant should work effectively in a team environment, independently manage complex tasks, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires a flexible schedule, including office, remote, and after‑hours work as needed. Salary range: $56.92 to $71.15 per hour, plus a competitive benefit package.
