Position details: FTE: 0.80 Temporary Part Time Location: Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre Shift pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Hours per shift: 7.75 Salary: $20.78 – $26.03 per hour Posting end date: 24‑NOV‑2025 Temporary end date: 17‑APR‑2026 Overview As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance and support to patients, clients or residents who require short‑term or ongoing support. You will assist nurses with routine care to meet patients’ hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, organize activities or programs, and observe and report on patients’ mood, health and well‑being. You will support the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals. Responsibilities Key responsibilities include: Supporting activities of daily living and other personal assistance services as outlined in patient care plans. Assisting with nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs. Co‑ordinating with nurses and other health professionals to provide routine care. Observing and reporting on patients’ mood, health and well‑being. Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors. Required Qualifications Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Proof of enrolment must be provided. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have completed at least 100 practicum hours, and are in the 1st year of a practical nursing program or in the 2nd year of a baccalaureate or psychiatric nursing program, will also be considered.
