As a Claims Specialist, Accident Benefits, you support and coach a team of advisors responsible for the management of Accident benefit claims. In addition to reviewing claims, you analyze risk, provide settlement opinions for complex claims and help internal advisors develop their technical skills. You share ideas and provide support in the management of complex problems using your analytical skills, comprehensive knowledge of your line of business and ability to manage complexity. You serve as subject matter expert for your unit, our clients and our partners. More specifically, you will be required to: Coach internal advisors to develop their technical skills Provide policy advice and ensure compliance with claims best practices Assist in the preparation of action plans that support pro‑active file management, based on claims reviews Review claims and support the advisors during the settlement process (evaluation, negotiation) Verify and approve payments and claims settlements Conduct research and serve as a resource person, proposing solutions to conflicts and situations outside the expert’s scope of authority Maintain focus on indemnity accuracy and the continuous improvement of results and outcomes Consistently model and promote Desjardins behaviours, cooperative values, and a member‑client culture Work closely with the Section Manager, providing continuous feedback and supporting the performance, growth and development of employees What we offer Competitive salary and annual bonus 4 weeks of flexible vacation starting in the first year Defined benefit pension plan that provides predictable, stable income throughout retirement Group insurance including telemedicine Reimbursement of health and wellness expenses and telework equipment * Benefits apply based on eligibility criteria. #LI-Hybrid What you bring to the table Bachelor's degree in a related field A minimum of five years of relevant experience Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered Advanced experience with Accident Benefits claims handling CIP Designation or enrolled in program Intermediate to advanced mathematical proficiency Action oriented, Business insight, Complexity, Customer Focus, Differences, Nimble learning Trade Union (If applicable) At Desjardins, we believe in equity, diversity and inclusion.
