Opportunity As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead a team of Engineers, Engineers in Training, Technologists, Designers, and Co‑Op staff to execute projects of varying sizes and complexity. You will contribute to the development, mentoring, and coaching of team members and enforce technical quality across deliverables, advancing the efficiency and efficacy of the mechanical team. Our clients include private and public entities across a range of project types: Healthcare Warehouses, Distribution Centres, Fulfillment Centers, and Parcel Sortation Facilities Vehicle maintenance facilities for light rail, heavy rail, bus, fleet, and mining Municipal and civic buildings Higher Education / Institutions Science and Technology Key Responsibilities Plan workloads and resources with the Industrial Mechanical team, coordinating with team leads and members. Engage with other team members and mechanical staff within the BC to support technical development. Provide internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, recruitment, and retention. Lead and assist in the development of single-discipline proposals. Provide fee development and technical writing support for mechanical components of medium to large multi‑disciplinary proposals. Offer technical input and support for large, complex projects. Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all mechanical systems or products for a project. Develop designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. Utilize BIM technologies in the development of 3‑D models of a building’s mechanical systems and provide markups for junior engineers. Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases, including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details. Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members, external consultants, owners, contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors. Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating. Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. Participate in constructability reviews. Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and peers’ projects. Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical group. Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for all sizes of projects. Oversee and manage multiple projects. Qualifications & Capabilities Requisite knowledge and application of applicable building codes and energy codes. General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. Ability to collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought. Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas effectively. Must be able to qualify for a Security Clearance with the Department of National Defense. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Presentation and interview skills are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Revizto, and heat‑load calculation software. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 15 years of experience. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred. Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time; field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
