This role is a part of… The Specialist, Information Security, under the direction of the Supervisor Cyber Threat Intelligence, will be part of the team responsible for IESO’s cyber threat intelligence program. They will collect data, analyze information, and report intelligence on cyber security threats actively targeting the Ontario electricity sector. They with work with IESO’s domestic and international intelligence partners and will help maintain the technologies that support cyber threat intelligence functions. Information and Technology Services (ITS) - Unionized What Makes This Role Exciting Coordinate, plan and/or organize the development and delivery of Information Security services and contingency planning and disaster recovery to business units in order to maintain the integrity of vital computer applications and information systems across IESO and to support executives and managers in fulfilling their due diligence responsibilities regarding Information Technology Security. What You’ll Do Report the results of cyber security threat assessments with conclusions, recommendations for improvement, and planned management actions to internal and external stakeholders. Develop and maintain the applications and technology required to deliver IESO's Cyber Threat Intelligence and Cyber Security Information Sharing services. Keep abreast of developments in the areas of geopolitics; cyber threats; legal, regulatory, corporate requirements; technological developments; and best practices in the Information Technology and Corporate Security field. Lead projects, assign work, resolve problems and assess performance as required. Assist in the investigation of identified security breaches, or concentrated attempts at breaching IESO security. Handle confidentiality issues, requiring a high level of trust and integrity. In a typical day, you will Contribute to the development of Information Security standards and procedures for business units consistent with corporate security objectives and leading edge practices. Deliver the Information Security programs, including framework for applications, tools, anti‑virus, encryption and firewalls, implementation support, identification of system vulnerabilities, system assessments, and security advice and consultation. Review and assess all requests for exception or exemption to policy. Provide input to supervision on all areas of Information Security. Oversee and monitor access logs and privileges and deliver or conduct contingency planning and disaster recovery programs for business units/departments across IESO. Contribute to development and delivery of awareness training and general Information Security education. Review new and updated systems or applications to ensure that security is configured properly. Work with business units to determine data classification and ownership or custodianship. Ensure adequate security tools are available for performing job functions. Perform other duties, tasks, projects as required or assigned. Role Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. Sound knowledge of computer science, information technology and telecommunications systems. Must have completed a degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Cyber Security, or related discipline, or equivalent. Certifications in Threat Intelligence, Cyber Security Incident Response, Security Operations, or related fields are beneficial. Experience Experience analyzing and reporting on Cyber Security incidents using models and frameworks such as the Cyber Kill Chain, Diamond Model, and MITRE ATT&CK. Excellent written and oral communication skills to present threat analysis findings to internal and external stakeholders. Experience coordinating or managing enterprise security systems on a diverse set of computing platforms, operating systems and applications, especially Windows NT and UNIX.
