Job Family Group: Capital Markets Sales & Service

Supports the origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions, and coordinates with other products as an integral part of a larger coverage team that maintains strong client relationships. Includes providing lending expertise for a variety of sectors, establishing credit facilities to support trading products business and facilitating credit approvals in support of Trade Finance products. Cross sells Corporate Banking products (e.g. FX / treasury products, cash management & corporate cards, commodities, investment management, securitization, leasing, Trade Finance products, etc.) Also provides ongoing management of the lending portfolio.

  • Contributes to growing / elevating the BMO and BMO Capital Market brand with a commitment to and presence in the community.
  • Monitors client, client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect client’s portfolio and business needs.
  • Reviews and continually monitors performance of existing accounts and client relationships.
  • Collaborates with sector coverage partners to cover clients and prospects and to identify/ deliver creative, timely solutions.
  • Completes due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships. May include client visits, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.
  • Understand complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
  • Balances the Bank's risk appetite with the client needs in making recommendations/ proposal.
  • Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Undergraduate degree with focal areas of finance, economics, or accounting preferred with high academic achievement.
  • MBA, CFA or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting, or legal fields.
  • Relevant power and utilities & infrastructure sector experience is highly desired. Project finance experience would be an asset.
  • Displays advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
  • Data driven decision making - In-depth.
