Permanent Part-Time – Nine Months/Year Location: Located on Vancouver Island, the City of Campbell River offers a rare combination of a welcoming small‑town feel with large‑city amenities. We are a 45‑minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching. The role The City of Campbell River is seeking an experienced and passionate Inclusion Support Programmer to join our Recreation & Culture team in this permanent part‑time position. The Programmer works with the Program Coordinator in the planning, development, implementation, and delivery of the Summerside Express program—a specialized summer camp program that provides opportunities for neurodiverse individuals and/or children and youth with diverse abilities. More information on this role is available in the job description. What we offer The current rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit permanent part‑time position is $34.04 per hour. Effective January 1 2026, the rate of pay will be $35.15 per hour. We offer a benefits package which includes paid vacation prorated for part‑time hours and extended health coverage. The successful candidate will also have access to a reduced cost Employee Wellness Pass for Recreation facilities and programs. Hours of Work This is a permanent part‑time position that works from January through September as follows: January through June – up to 15 hours/week July and August – 35 hours/week September – up to 15 hours/week Workplace culture is important to the Recreation Department – we are looking for people to join us who embrace our core values of teamwork, respect, integrity, communication, and kindness. Our ideal candidate will have Two year diploma in recreation, or closely related field. Three years recent experience in working with, and in planning and implementing programs and/or services for neurodiverse individuals, within the last seven (7) years. One year recent supervisory experience. Experience and a passion for working with citizens of all ages and abilities. Valid Emergency First Aid with CPR certifications. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and produce a clear driver’s abstract as per City policy. The successful candidate will be required to provide a clear police Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sectors check.
