ABOUT THE ROLE The Maintenance Groundskeeper, Coordinator is responsible for the year‑round upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the Dan Pine Sr. Healing Lodge facilities and grounds. This position ensures that the property remains safe, functional, and welcoming for all clients and staff, while reflecting the values and vision of Garden River First Nation’s Wellness Centre. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform a variety of seasonal maintenance duties, including grass cutting, snow removal, weeding, tree care, and grounds clean‑up after events. Maintain, repair, and service small equipment, tools, and machinery or arrange outside service when needed. Conduct routine building maintenance, including repairing doors, windows, screens, drywall, and fixtures, as well as performing painting and caulking as needed. Ensure heating, plumbing, and water systems operate effectively, and coordinate trades for larger repairs. Oversee upkeep of outbuildings, docks, and firewood supply, support seasonal setup and winterization. Obtain quotes for maintenance services and materials when required. Promote and maintain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, policies, and procedures. Foster respectful relationships with clients, staff, and contractors while upholding professionalism, confidentiality, and GRFN values. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Post-Secondary School Diploma preferred. Experience in facility and grounds maintenance or general repairs (2-5 years). Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Demonstrated sensitivity to First Nation culture, values, and traditions. Physically capable of performing manual labour and working outdoors in all seasons. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team‑oriented approach. Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Must undergo a Criminal Record Check before employment (At applicant’s expense).
