Job Description

AECOM's Water team is actively seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager for full-time employment based in the Burnaby, BC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting water resources projects that include:

  1. Stormwater and watershed management and modelling
  2. Environmental assessments
  3. Hydrology
  4. Hydraulics
  5. Stream rehabilitation / natural channel design
  6. In-field assessments and monitoring

Skills you will likely use or develop in this job include project management, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling, water quality and quantity monitoring, data analysis, and report / proposal writing all in a friendly, fast-paced consulting engineering work environment at AECOM. This role offers the right candidate the potential for a fast upwards career progression within AECOM.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Working directly with the group manager, project engineers, fluvial geomorphologists, ecologists, less experienced and support staff on projects related to Water Resources.
  2. Responsible for projects including communicating with clients, meetings, project management, completing technical analysis and reviews, preparing reports and proposals, and conceptual / preliminary and detailed designs of stormwater management infrastructure.
  3. Utilize local knowledge and contacts to grow business and preposition for upcoming work.
  4. In coordination with the other Water Resources staff, support in client follow-up and develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  5. Participate in the coordination of the team's participation in key conferences and sponsorship opportunities related to the respective market sector.
  6. Participate in the development, communication, and deployment of strategies to advance AECOM’s position in the Water Resources market sector.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering.
  2. 8+ years of water resources experience, with 5+ years of project management experience.
  3. Registered as a P.Eng or eligible within 6-12 months.
  4. Excellent time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of water resources policies and practices.
  2. Experience with various water resources modeling programs e.g. HEC-RAS, PC-SWMM/EPA SWMM, VISUAL OTTHYMO, InfoWorks, etc.
  3. Familiarity with ArcGIS.
  4. Experience in proposal preparation including determining work scope, preparing time task breakdowns and preparing text sections on technical approach, team and project experience, etc.
  5. Interested and capable to take on Project Management duties (schedule and budget control, client contact, proposal writing, etc.).
  6. Ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively, and work with others is essential.
  7. Strong competencies with Microsoft Office and analytical skills.
  8. Strong organizational, project, client, and staff management skills.
  9. 10+ years of water resources experience, with 5+ years of project management experience.
  10. Experience delegating to less experienced staff is an asset.
  11. Design and construction experience related to transportation infrastructure, stormwater, and/or erosion and slope stability projects will be considered an asset.
  12. Experience including preparation of cost estimates and tender packages as well as contract administration.
  13. Experience with Fluvial Geomorphology / Natural Channel design would be considered a strong asset.
  14. Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling would be an asset.
  15. PMP Designation.
