Position Overview

Calian is seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon to work part-time at CFB Kingston. This position offers Physicians a unique opportunity to work with Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members without having to become members themselves.

Responsibilities
  • Providing general orthopaedic consultation service to CAF members on a referral basis.
  • Performing comprehensive diagnosis, medical management, and rehabilitation of patients.
  • Determining procedures for preoperative and postoperative care, applying surgical procedures, and coordinating operation with anesthesiologist.
  • Participating as a member of the multidisciplinary team for case conference when on-site.
  • Practicing as a member of a multidisciplinary team and consulting with members of other health professions as appropriate to ensure the health care needs of CAF members are met.
  • Practicing in accordance with the Canadian Armed Forces’ Spectrum of Care, Drug Benefit List, and Code of Ethics.
Qualifications
  • Currently licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC).
  • Full hospital privileges at an acute care medical facility to perform surgery and deal with complications.
  • Eligible for Government security clearance at Reliability level.
Additional Requirements
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
Security Clearances
  • A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening might be required for this position.
