Status: Casual (between 0 and 37.5 hours per week) Shift: Mornings and afternoons, until at least 8pm. No overnights involved. Facility is open Monday through Saturday. Discipline: Hematology / Urinalysis Number of positions: 1 Start date: ASAP Union: This is part of the BCGEU collective agreement. This vacancy is for an existing position. Responsibilities Conduct a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing. Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation. Perform, interpret and release results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information. Identify incidents and non-conformities, participate in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and drive continuous improvement. Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technology. Participate in problem solving in work organization and workflow. Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards. Qualifications College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience. CSMLS registered and in good standing. Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while adhering to LifeLabs standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail who demonstrates curiosity. Ability to distinguish multiple colors. Strong computer skills in MS Office products, as well as laboratory analyzers. Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues. Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
