Our team at Verve Senior Living Retirement Residence - Riverwalk Retirement Residence focuses on helping each person have a great day, every day, through collaboration and a passion for excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards.Under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager, plan, direct and evaluate activities addressing the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of residents.Communicate activities of the department to residents, staff, families and the community to encourage participation; complete and distribute monthly activity calendars, surveys, invitations, etc., in a timely manner.Lead and promote resident awareness and participation in leisure, social and recreation programs that meet residents\' needs.Assist in maintaining department records including attendance, assessments, and evaluations of planned programs.Maintain a positive image of the residence through ongoing communications with the community, local media, family members, staff and volunteers; help fulfill residents\' unique leisure needs.Assist in directing and supervising participants in volunteer and student placement programs.Participate in the CanFitPro Exercise program to carry out exercise classes suitable for seniors.Maintain department plans, policies and procedures regarding programming quality, treatment of residents, infection control and safety.Maintain effective written and verbal communication with coworkers, residents and guests; use appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.Perform other duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Manager or delegate.Comply with all corporate policies and procedures and complete mandatory training/education.Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and WHMIS/Globally Harmonized System; participate in fire drills, fire prevention, pest control programs and related trainings.All offers of employment are subject to a Criminal Background Check. If you require accommodation for any portion of the recruitment and hiring process, please let us know.QualificationsMinimum of grade 12 education required.Prior experience in recreation programming for a senior population preferred.Diploma or degree in Recreation, Physical Education, and/or Gerontology considered an asset.Class 5 operator’s license and clean driving record; 2 years passenger driving experience preferred (Class 4 license an asset).Emergency First Aid and CPR certified.Demonstrated leadership skills.Valid alcohol server certification and CanFitPro certification preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to handle database programs.Dementia experience/knowledge is an asset.Resident-oriented with values aligned to the residence; strong written and spoken English communication; ability to work with minimal supervision and solve problems; strong multi-tasking and teamwork skills.Employment detailsSeniority level: Entry levelEmployment type: OtherJob function: Management and ManufacturingIndustries: Hospitals and Health CareWe’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
