About the Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Research Development and working as part of the Research Development Team, the Research Grants Facilitator is responsible for leading the development, review and administration of investigator-led research at NS Health. Acting as a primary support to MD and PhD Researchers, the Facilitator will foster capacity building for research teams to enable them to achieve success in terms of grant capture, and to facilitate efficient and effective administration of research grants across the continuum e.g., from the research development/pre-award stage until research study completion. The Facilitator is responsible for supporting research in all Zones across the province and is required to independently navigate the national and international competitive grant funding process. Focused on continuous quality improvement, the Facilitator will have a strong impact on improving the grant writing and administration process with a view to identifying commercialization opportunities. Specific Accountabilities Research Grant Administration (Pre-Award) Coordinates all technical and administrative aspects of research grant applications, liaising with researchers, teams, and funding agencies, and facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations. Assists with research protocol development and related aspects of research grant applications and submissions while liaising with department leadership and NSH researchers and their teams. Identifies and shares funding opportunities, ensures researcher eligibility, compliance with guidelines, and provides preliminary review and feedback on applications and budgets. Supports resource and budget planning, advises on fund management, tracks awards in ROMEO, and manages final review and electronic submission of grant applications. Research Grant Administration (Post Award) Manages research funding and award tracking in ROMEO, coordinates study account setup, and ensures all ethical, legal, and financial approvals and documentation are in place. Facilitates research agreements with the Research Contracts Team, reviews study amendments and budget changes, and ensures compliance with NS Health and funding agency policies. Collects and reviews final study reports, supports study closures, prepares research portfolio evaluation reports, and collaborates with the Innovation team on commercialization opportunities. General Research Administration Serves as primary contact for NS Health research inquiries, provides ROMEO database support, and ensures accurate data tracking and consistency across institutions. Develops and manages research grant tracking processes, supports province-wide funding competitions, facilitates agreements, and prepares reports and documentation for leadership. Designs and delivers research training, workshops, special projects, and events, while overseeing clinicaltrials.gov and promoting NS Health research initiatives. Collaboration and Communication Supports and collaborates with research teams across NS Health Zones, clinical service areas, and the Research and Innovation team to enhance processes and ensure methodologically sound grant applications. Establishes and maintains partnerships with academic institutions, funding agencies, hospitals, foundations, and health charities, representing NS Health on research committees and working groups. Develops and maintains key research resources, including budgets, agreements, policies, procedures, and salary scales, while ensuring proper use and reporting of research funds. About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Completion of a master’s degree in a health‑related field is preferred Completion of a post‑secondary degree with an emphasis on health research or a related subject is required. Minimum of five years of related experience in a similar research focused role, equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience in the research grant writing and peer review processes is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian health research environment. Understanding of the health care system, academia and scientific research environments. Proven program and project management skills with strong budgeting, financial, and organizational expertise. Detail‑oriented professional with a track record of meeting goals and deadlines in fast‑paced environments. Proficient computer skills (MS Office Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint Teams, Zoom, Skype, internet). Demonstrated analytical thinking skills and decision‑making abilities. Demonstrated experience with database platforms (e.g., ROMEO) or equivalent grant management software. Skilled in synthesizing, formatting, and editing detailed correspondence.
