With the support of a Supervising Engineer/Mentor, the Engineer in Training (EIT) will complete a variety of technical assignments that progressively build responsibility and expertise, providing exposure to real-world engineering challenges and solutions. This hands‑on experience supports the path toward professional registration and offers a strong foundation for a career in engineering. The role focuses on the design and construction of transportation infrastructure in northern regions and is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with some engineering experience who have not yet achieved professional designation. As an EIT, you will be working in the office on project design phases during the winter months and primarily working in the field during the construction season (April – October). About Us The Transportation Engineering Branch is responsible for the planning, asset management, design, rehabilitation and construction of different highways, bridges, aviation and transportation infrastructure throughout Yukon. Experience in Highways, Roads, Culverts or other related Civil Infrastructure design and construction would be considered an asset. Previous experience as an Engineer in Training or in a similar role is also considered an asset. Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability Strong Interpersonal skills Proficient using various computer applications related to engineering (e.g. Microsoft Office, databases). Effective in both independent and team-based work environments Ability to perform well under pressure, including organizational and time management skills. Conditions of Employment Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license. Must be eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with Engineers Yukon (EY) & capable of registration as an EIT with EY within 6 months.
