As a member of a team, the PTA/OTA participates in profession-specific and interprofessional activities that are directed towards a person-centered environment and contribute to operational efficiency and professional and program development. The PTA/OTA may work autonomously in a variety of settings, including the community, providing services to patients/clients and families by following the treatment plan developed and assigned by the supervising clinician. Thorough knowledge of scope of practice and of the role and standards of practice of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists is critical in this role. Skills And Qualifications Required Dual Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant certificate from a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Minimum six months of experience in each of OT and PT settings, preferred Valid Ontario Driver’s license may be required Position Responsibilities Follows assigned treatment plan independently for patients/clients (individual or group), including the use of skilled techniques as deemed appropriate by the supervising clinician Collaborates with the clinician on individual or group activities within the pre-determined guidelines of the assigned treatment plan Discusses and clarifies patient/client needs and brings forward suggestions in day to day problem-solving Fitting and instructs safe use of assistive devices and walking aids, as per supervising clinician.
