The Northwell Transplant Institute is seeking a full-time, Abdominal Transplant Surgeon who has a strong background in Pediatric Liver Transplantation to serve as Surgical Director for Pediatric Liver Transplantation. In addition to the Transplant Institute’s comprehensive adult transplant services for heart, lung, kidney and liver, the Transplant Institute currently offers the only pediatric heart transplant program on Long Island as well as an established pediatric kidney transplant program. The successful candidate will partner with an established Pediatric Transplant Hepatology team who provide comprehensive care for children with both transplant and non-transplant liver diseases. This multidisciplinary team is based at Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center.Cohen Children’s Medical Center opened in 1983 as the New York metropolitan area’s only hospital designed exclusively for children. Today, it is the largest pediatric teaching hospital in the region, with over 750,000 visits annually and serving 1.8 million children in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. It is the tertiary pediatric medical center of the Northwell Health System and the only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center on Long Island. Cohen Children’s Medical Center is among the top-rated children’s hospitals in New York State and has received the highest ranking in New York for pediatric nephrology, urology, pulmonology and lung surgery, and are nationally ranked for superior care in a total of eight specialties, including Diabetes and Endocrinology, according to US News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Children’s Hospitals.
