Air Canada seeks a highly motivated and dynamic technical Product Manager to join the Application Development and Maintenance team at Air Canada to play a critical role in Air Canada’s corporate services space. This role requires collaboration with a diverse internal workforce and extended third party service providers to create the future business application support model for our world-class airline brand. This individual must be employee journey centric and have a passion for the travel industry and an in-depth knowledge of HR employee facing applications for creating innovative and high-performance digital experiences. They must also be comfortable in working in a high paced, high energy, collaborative environment with a focus on a continuous product delivery model.

This position will be reporting to the “Manager, Application Development and Maintenance” responsible for multiple employee facing Human Resource products.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume a leadership and ownership role for in-house developed and purchased solutions to ensure features and functions meets the business highest expectations.
  • Accountable & responsible for driving overall direction, enhancing processes, priorities & goals of various Human Resource applications and systems, including vendor responsibilities & working on new functional areas.
  • Lead the strategy, planning and implementation of features and functions for Air Canada employee digital channels.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders to collect and use information for improved operational performance.
  • Maintain and manage the administration of employee-facing applications and systems.
  • Oversee and monitor progress on product enhancements and projects, and be accountable in regards to the scope, schedules, budgets and quality.
  • Act a SME for your assigned products and provide technology evaluation and recommendation to management teams.
  • Prepare user stories and manage backlogs, defining requirements, features and channels enhancements and creating value for business and employees.
  • Set KPIs, track, measure, analyze and optimize product development pre and post implementation.
  • Oversee the designer and development teams to guide the evolution of the product as per its long-term vision.
  • Understand and stay current on employee digital and technology trends to understand their potential impact on our industry and Air Canada and apply learnings within AC.
  • Identify and drive new ways of working together using new processes and tools.
  • Prepare presentations and actively participate in meetings with senior leadership across the company to communicate project statuses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of product manager or product owner experience focused on digital products.
  • Strong management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong understanding of at least one type of Agile process and Scaled Agile (SAFe).
  • Experience with HRIS processes and applications.
  • Experience with SDLC tools like JIRA, Confluence, HP ALM, and MSFT TFS.
  • Experience with understanding analytics reports from tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics or PowerBI.
  • Experience leading a team of developers and testers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong experience in complex digital projects.
  • Ability to energize people in fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Deep understanding of digital design guidelines across multiple touch points.
  • Innovative and creative with the ability to identify and develop business opportunities.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and effective communication both in technical and business terms.
  • UX and design experience are great assets.
  • Knowledge of core programming languages (JAVA, JavaScript, html, XML) is also an asset.
  • Prior experience with Quality Assurance a plus, but not required.
  • Airline or Travel Industry experience a plus, but not required.
