We are Making Sustainability Happen.As our new Water Quality Modeller, you will play an important role in broadening SLR’s expertise in Integrated Mine Water Management, supporting projects and offices across Canada and potentially abroad. We offer the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, with primarily remote work arrangements possible for suitable candidates. Qualified candidates located anywhere in Canada are encouraged to apply.The RoleDue to growth in mine permitting and mine water management projects, we are seeking to hire an individual with experience developing Goldsim based surface water quality models and analyzing water chemistry data. Development of geochemical source terms as input parameters to models will also be a key competency. You will contribute to the growth of our natural environment service line in Canada, while supporting our mine water management work as well as our permitting and environmental management groups on projects across the country.In addition to strong technical skills, you will also have knowledge and experience with applicable legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards within Canada, and the successful management and delivery of projects, meeting SLR’s high standards for quality and client satisfaction. Your expertise will be relied upon to provide outstanding client service and advisory solutions to help our clients solve complex problems.You Will AlsoHave a general understanding of surface water hydrology and groundwater flow through unsaturated and saturated media to identify potential contaminant transport pathways and environmental receptors.Organize, manipulate, and evaluate large water quality databases.Collaborate with geochemists to acquire relevant geochemical data and develop geochemical source terms.Collaborate with surface water balance and groundwater modellers to identify and integrate touch-points between these models which may be developed concurrently.Develop water quality and/or geochemical models using Goldsim, PHREEQC, or spreadsheet methods, as applicable to the project to support engineering design, permitting, operational optimization, and site reclamation.Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting modelling methodology, input parameters, results, and potential environmental effects.Collaborate to integrate water quality monitoring data and modelling results into engineering studies, environmental assessments, and management plans.Contribute to planning and implementing water quality projects including development of monitoring programs, tabulation of monitoring data, conducting QA/QC, presentation of results in tabular and graphical formats, and preparing reports.Support and/or lead multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations, with responsibility for models and other project deliverables meetings expectations for quality and technical excellence.Working at SLRWith us, there is no doubt you’ll grow your subject-matter expertise and industry knowledge. Experience with other water modelling platforms would be beneficial.Academic background in geology, geochemistry, engineering, biology, or other relevant specialization.
