Please note that salary is Pro Rata for part-time posts. We have an exciting opportunity for accredited Emergency Medicine Consultants, looking to work in our Adult Emergency Department. The Emergency Department has an attendance of 195,000 new patients each year. The department has a large academic and clinical skills area and has a strong education and research ethos. This post represents an exciting opportunity to join our established team of Consultants in Emergency Medicine, providing senior care and leadership within the department. It is expected that the successful applicants will have a high clinical profile with the drive and initiative to achieve and sustain the highest standards of emergency medical care. In January 2018, the Minister for Health announced the government’s commitment to the development of a Scottish Trauma Centre Network over a 5-year phased funding plan. This network is made up of 4 Regional Major Trauma Centres based in North, East, West and South/East Scotland. The West of Scotland Major Trauma Network is a collaboration of 6 NHS Boards (Ayrshire and Arran; Dumfries and Galloway; Forth Valley; Lanarkshire; Greater Glasgow and Clyde; Highland (Argyll and Bute CHP) and the Scottish Ambulance Service). The network will provide all aspects of trauma care, from the point of injury to rehabilitation, in the region. At the heart of the West Regional network, is the Major Trauma Centre which will be sited at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow. To continue to support this new development, we are seeking to appoint 1 additional consultant in Emergency Medicine, who will allow us to move towards a 24 / 7 consultant presence. Candidates should have experience of working with EM and will work in one of the busiest Emergency departments in the country. The department also has an active research interest and is recognised for the quality of training it delivers to all its staff. Responsibilities This role involves delivering senior care and leadership within the Adult Emergency Department, participating in the 24/7 consultant service, contributing to the West Regional Trauma Network, and engaging in research and training activities. Qualifications Full GMC Registration and license to practise. FRCEM (or equivalent) and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. UK trained specialists: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
