OverviewIntermediate Land Development Engineer at Stantec. You will be part of the Community Development team, primarily based in Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, or Charlottetown, and contribute to planning and development projects with multidisciplinary and integrated service offerings.Your OpportunityStantec’s Community Development team is growing in Atlantic Canada. As an Intermediate Land Development Engineer, you will perform a variety of tasks including project design work, assisting with proposals, liaising with clients, and some project management. You should be self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills, eager to learn, possess good general computer skills, and have attention to detail and accuracy.Key ResponsibilitiesMay work on multiple projects and be responsible for projects of average complexity/size.Serve as Engineer-of-Record.Perform more complex engineering design tasks on assigned projects under supervision, including drawings, reports, presentations, and regulatory applications.Engage in design development using sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.Prepare and revise documentation in various civil phases including site plans, utility plans/profiles, grading plans, cross sections, diagrams, and details.Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.Involved in approval and permitting processes, including meetings with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel, and governing entities.Manage and lead other team members; complete tasks and delegate project tasks as appropriate.Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.Assist in preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.Prepare contract documents for construction (drawings and specifications).May conduct construction inspection services.Support the civil team during construction with submittal reviews, responses to RFIs, and clarifications.Participate in constructability review and QA/QC processes.Assist in developing new standards and specifications for the discipline.Prepare portions of engineering project proposals, change orders, and client communications for specific projects.Your Capabilities and CredentialsStrong understanding of civil engineering concepts including gravity and pressure systems, geotechnical, survey, storm water/drainage design, road design, erosion and sediment control, and grading.Excellent time management; ability to schedule, budget, and manage resources efficiently.Ability to discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.Understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.Strong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and AutoCAD.Experience with engineering model software (e.g., H2OMAP, Infoworks, EPASWMM, XPSWMM, SWMM HYMO, PCSWMM) is an asset.Ability to solve complex problems with professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.Ability to review others’ work for accuracy, manage time to meet project budget and schedule, and collaborate in a project team.Ability to administer and inspect construction activities.Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work well in a team environment.Experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating with engineers and technical staff across disciplines.Experience liaising with landowners, municipal/agency staff, and stakeholders.Valid driver’s license and ability to use a vehicle.Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university; Professional Engineer registration; at least 5 years of land development experience is strongly preferred.Employment detailsLocation: Canada | Nova Scotia (Dartmouth) or Atlantic Canada officesEmployment type: Full-time; Regular statusTravel: Yes #J-18808-Ljbffr
