Role and Facility InformationThe Galiano Health Care Center is looking for a locum Family Physician for a complex rural community. The locum Physician will work in the clinic with the support of the MOAs, performing 20‑minute appointments per patient and serving as the Emergency walk‑in physician as needed. The first morning of the locum will be blocked off for orientation with the MOAs, including a tour, narcotic count, and general clinic information. The last afternoon will include ample administration time. The Physician will also provide evening/overnight on‑call service on designated dates.Clinic Description0.5 FTE Physician1–4 day/week Home & Community Care Nurse2 exam rooms, 1 emergency room, 2 offices, and 2 MOAsLocal ResourcesPhlebotomist available on Thursday for 4 hoursOne mental health & addictions counselor (employed by VIHA) up to 2 days/week, serving Galiano and Salt Spring2 RMTs and one physiotherapist rent rooms casuallyDental visits once a weekEmergency FrameworkAmbulance and volunteer first responders; emergency treatment room. Patients requiring urgent transfer are taken by water taxi or helicopter.Call ExpectationsRotating on‑call via the MOCAP Program. One weeknight overnight on–call 1700‑0800 (date to be announced). Locums must use their own cell phones—no pager.CompensationType: Alternative Payment ArrangementBenefits and IncentivesMay be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including a retention premium of 10.99% and other benefits/incentives (RGPLP).Start DateNovember 2024Community InformationGaliano Island is located midway between Victoria and Vancouver and is accessible by ferry from either the Tsawwassen terminal on the BC mainland or the Swartz Bay terminal adjacent to Victoria on Vancouver Island.
