We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. Shift pattern for this post is: Monday to Friday with some weekend working. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Senior Charge Nurse to lead the Neurosurgical Theatre Team. Our 7 operating theatre complex includes 2 OMFS Theatres and 5 Neurosurgery Theatres, with Patient Reception and Recovery Rooms. We provide acute emergency and elective neurosurgical care as part of the Regional Service to the West of Scotland. You must be a registered nurse with proven leadership skills and experience in the field of neurosurgical peri‑operative care. You will ensure safe and effective clinical practice, enhance the patient's experience of care, manage and develop the performance of the team and contribute to the delivery of the organisation's objectives. You will ensure infection prevention and control strategies are applied to the theatre team (e.g., hand hygiene audits and environmental audits). As a clinical leader you will promote teamwork within a multi‑professional environment, demonstrate critical analysis and decision‑making skills, and lead the delivery of a clinically excellent, high‑quality service. You will influence and facilitate change within the Neurosurgical Theatre department and, where appropriate, the broader organisation. You will ensure visibility for patients and carers/relatives on a daily basis and promote a clean, comfortable, caring and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, health‑care associated infection, risk management and critical incident reporting and analysis. You must demonstrate a commitment to patient‑centred care, quality improvement, continuing professional development and clinical expertise in neurosurgical peri‑operative care. You will show flexibility, a willingness to participate in service progression and growth, and the ability to lead and manage change. The successful candidate will have neurosurgical experience in the scrub role.
