Mechanical Designer – WSP Canada (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) Opportunity WSP’s Resources subsector, part of the Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) sector, delivers a full range of engineering services from conceptual studies to detailed EPCM and site closure, supporting industrial and mining projects across Canada. Job Description We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our Mechanical Team in Saskatoon. The role focuses on the design and optimisation of heavy‑industrial project layouts, creating 3‑D models, design sketches, process diagrams, site plans and detailed drawings. Collaboration with other disciplines, clients and stakeholders is essential to meet engineering needs and ensure successful project coordination. Responsibilities Prepare 3‑D models and layout arrangements for plant upgrades and new facilities Develop process flow diagrams and design sketches Produce design calculations, briefs and standard details Conduct trade‑off studies and prepare reports Assist in checking vendor documentation Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information, upholding departmental and client standards Contribute to departmental support tasks (equivalent libraries, standards and procedures) Qualifications College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design, especially layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projects Understanding of mechanical equipment and piping installation requirements in the field Consulting experience required Proficient with AVEVA E3D, Plant3D, Revit, MicroStation, SolidEdge and SmartPlant Strong written and verbal communication skills French language skills (written and verbal) an asset Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a desire to perform design engineering Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities Ability to work well in a team and independently Benefits Competitive salary and flexible work options Inclusive culture and commitment to belonging Hybrid work policy combining in‑person and remote work Comprehensive employee‑focused benefits (virtual healthcare, wellness platform, savings programs) Career development opportunities in a growing North American firm EEO Statement WSP welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
