CGMH is an 84 bed hospital located in Collingwood, Ontario that serves more than 74,000 permanent residents and 3.5 Million annual visitors to the communities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview and the Blue Mountains. CGMH provides emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio-respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). The hospital offers care in obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care, surgery, outpatient care including dialysis and a wide range of clinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. Responsibilities Performs accurate cardiac diagnostics (e.g. cardiac stress tests, ECGs, Holter monitors). Observes and responds to ECG requests from all hospital areas; maintains confidentiality of patient information. Develops and maintains patient records and daily MIS statistics; uses Meditech for patient information capture. Communicates diagnostic test results effectively to the healthcare team. Provides teaching to other hospital staff, students and patients where appropriate. Assists in maintaining cardiology supplies and equipment; participates in quality assurance and review of departmental policies and procedures. Adheres to Occupational Health & Safety responsibilities and infection control guidelines. Performs duties including patient transportation, record review, and collaboration with the health care team to support patient care. Qualifications Currently registered as a member of the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists College diploma from a two-year Cardiovascular Technology program Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist in a diagnostic setting Current BCLS certification Strong communication skills (English); additional languages are an asset Basic computer skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical ability to perform duties (moving/transferring patients, repositioning, etc.) Excellent attendance/performance record and a commitment to professional growth ECG interpretation course preferred; additional healthcare education is an asset Benefits This position includes 8% vacation pay, 14% pay in lieu of benefits, access to the Employee & Family Assistance Program, and CGMH Perkopolis discounts. The Opportunity The Cardiovascular Technologist is responsible for performing cardiac testing in the hospital in accordance with the standards of the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists. The technologist supports physicians and staff by providing timely preliminary reports and by teaching staff, students and patients as needed.
