Financial Controller - Mid Cornwall - £50,000Trial Balance Consulting has formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a long-established and highly successful retail services business based in mid Cornwall. The company is seeking a Financial Controller, an interesting and broad role that will essentially see the successful candidate assuming a finance-number-one position within a fast-growing and financially secure business.The role is offered as a full-time, permanent contract with potential for an element of hybrid working where required. With a current turnover exceeding £5M and helmed by a very experienced management team, the role works within an impressive and profitable luxury marketplace where returning customer numbers are high.Key Responsibilities:Assume overall management for all aspects of the company’s operational financial controls whilst adding strategic input at board levelManage, mentor, and develop an ambitious team of transactional-focused colleaguesPreparation and presentation of quality management accounts with accompanying commentaryDevelop budget and forecasting packsLook to develop and streamline all digital accounting processes and bespoke CRM systemsCollate income stream reports from multiple business entitiesPreparation of statutory accounts in line with UK standardsWork closely with a range of external stakeholders including Chartered Accountants, Auditors, and external investorsMaintain the fixed Asset registerVAT and tax reporting, and filingMonitor and authorize supplier payment runsOverseeing internal payroll proceduresWe’re looking for an ambitious Financial Controller that possesses A1 technical experience as well as sound commercial judgment. You’ll be taking a lead role in ensuring the efficient financial controls of a very busy function with multiple income streams.Requirements:A professionally qualified individual (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), and/or AAT qualified with significant vocational experienceSolid background in the preparation of financial and management reports, up to date knowledge of accounting standards and budgetary controlsNatural leader with past experience in managing your own team, developing their skills, and mentoring their progressSkill in identifying potential improvements and leading finance projectsExperience of using technology in previous rolesOur client is open-minded where sector experience is concerned, but the role would be particularly well-suited to an applicant with B2C retail exposure.
