Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supporting site selection and feasibility studies, system design and key equipment selection, economic modeling and funding applications, preparation of NRCan 30% ITC application materials, project permitting and grid connection, construction management and commissioning, development of operational strategies and after‑sales support, as well as cross‑departmental and cross‑country collaboration. Job Responsibilities Market and Price‑Spread Arbitrage Analysis: Collect AESO real‑time electricity prices and peak‑off‑peak curves, quantify the annual arbitrage revenues and ancillary service premiums for various energy storage system sizes, and develop investment assumptions accordingly. Policy Funding and Compliance Implementation: Develop application pathways for the NRCan 30% ITC, Alberta ERA grants, and carbon credit revenues (OBPS/CCUS), ensuring that all subsidies and incentives can be successfully realized. Financial Modeling and Sensitivity Analysis: Develop project IRR/NPV/LCOE models, evaluate the impact of CAPEX, battery degradation, and electricity price volatility on project returns, and establish investment thresholds. Financing Strategy and Transaction Structure: Compare financing instruments such as project loans, green bonds, and tax equity investment, and design a refinanceable SPV structure to secure low‑cost capital. Post‑Investment Monitoring and Exit Planning: Establish KPIs (availability ≥ 97%, degradation  99%) or to replace OTSG with hydrogen‑fired boiler systems of equivalent heat output. Qualifications And Competency Requirements Bachelor's degree Work Experience Requirement: Minimum 3 years of experience in energy storage systems, new energy, battery systems, power systems, or related fields. Experience with North American projects is a significant advantage and may even be required. Familiarity with North American electricity market arbitrage models is preferred, with prior experience in AESO, PJM, or ERCOT project analyses considered a strong plus. Project Experience: At least one full‑cycle development experience of an energy storage power station project. Professional Requirement: Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Engineering, Battery Technology, or New Energy Science and Engineering. Strong technical and problem‑solving abilities. Good communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of effective and timely communication with local Canadian regulatory authorities, consulting firms, power plant owners, as well as domestic companies and teams. Experience in the power or energy storage industry. Proficiency in mathematical modeling for energy storage economic analysis is preferred. Understand North American grid connection and electrical standards, such as CSA, IEEE 1547, UL 9540/9540A, and NERC. Capable of participating in the preparation and review of approval and technical documents related to energy storage power station projects. Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license or be able to obtain it within one year. CFA Level II or CAIA; or PMP plus advanced Excel modeling certification (FMVA/AFM). Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or Investment Representative license (IIROC) is preferred. Holders of a Class 5 driver’s license preferred for on‑site winter inspections. Must pass PSPC‑Reliability screening (no criminal record). Flexible with time differences and able to attend nighttime calls with the China headquarters.
