As a Journeyman, you will be involved in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of commercial building automation systems. This position requires a good working knowledge of basic electronic theory and Building Electrical / Mechanical systems.Responsibilities:Install, wire, and maintain BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of installations.Repair and maintain low voltage systems (under 120V).Assist in delivering BAS solutions within the Construction/Operation Department.Assist with site commissioning, point-to-point verifications, troubleshooting, and startup of Building Automation Systems.Handle and be familiar with testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.Perform tasks with minimal supervision, following Ainsworth GDI Health & Safety policies and procedures.Adhere to all company policies and procedures.Perform all job functions safely, in accordance with health, safety, environmental policies, and regulations.Follow the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Understand the fundamentals of HVAC systems in commercial buildings.Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.Qualifications:Valid Driver’s license.Excellent communication skills in English – both written and oral.Strong troubleshooting skills.Ambitious learner eager to progress in building systems.Experience working with low voltage systems.Experience with HVAC, building automation systems, and VFDs is an asset.Experience with programming languages or IT infrastructure is an asset.Experience with PLCs is an asset.Ability to read and draw electrical sketches and schematics.Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise work.Experience in commercial/construction installations.While we appreciate all applications, only candidates under consideration will be contacted.Ainsworth (a GDI company) is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
