The Opportunity What is Grafana Cloud? Grafana Cloud is our composable observability platform that integrates metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with Grafana. It allows our customers to leverage the best open source observability software – including Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope – without the overhead of installing, maintaining and scaling their own observability stack. The Databases department owns and operates the telemetry databases that are Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, and Pyroscope for profiles. We offer our databases as a Cloud service supporting Grafana Cloud, and additionally as on-premise solutions with Grafana Enterprise Metrics, Grafana Enterprise Logs, and Grafana Enterprise Traces. Adaptive Telemetry Group The Adaptive Telemetry group, part of the Databases department, has the mission of ensuring that all telemetry stored in our databases is worthy of attention. Under that mission, the group is responsible for the development of Adaptive Metrics, Adaptive Logs, Adaptive Traces and Adaptive Profiles. Our Adaptive Telemetry solutions give users the ability to control and optimize their telemetry data. These solutions ensure that data storage is optimized based on individual usage patterns, so only the most valuable data is retained. Each Adaptive Telemetry solution comes with a Grafana plugin that allows for manual adjustments to the solution’s behavior or the acceptance of system-generated recommendations. Our Grafana plugins are Typescript applications developed with React and tested with Jest and Playwright. What you’ll be doing As a Staff Frontend Engineer, contribute across multiple work streams and shape both the product and the team’s technical direction. Collaborate closely with other frontend and backend engineers, provide guidance and technical leadership on larger projects, and foster a positive, collaborative team culture. Write and review pull requests and design documents as part of continuously improving and refining the user interface. Mentor and support other team members, participate in design discussions, and contribute actively to a positive team culture, fostering collaboration and psychological safety. Learn new skills by gaining a deeper understanding of our cloud product and our customers. What Makes You a Great Fit You are a motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and a customer-focused mindset. Pragmatism: ability to break down complex challenges, deliver MVPs, gather data and feedback, and progress iteratively. Collaboration and communication: comfortable working in a fully remote squad with strong communication skills. Leadership: experience guiding and supporting other engineers, leading initiatives or small teams, and driving projects to successful outcomes. Solid experience with web applications, ideally developed with React. Solid experience writing and maintaining unit and end-to-end tests using modern testing frameworks. Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software maintainable by others. Bonus Points For Experience with TanStack and Playwright. Experience developing Grafana plugins. Experience with Go or other backend languages. Been a user of Grafana or other observability-related applications. Compensation & Rewards In Canada, the base compensation range for this role is CAD 174,176 – CAD 209,011. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed here. All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Compensation ranges are country specific.
