What You’ll Be Doing As the Senior Manager, Operational Risk, you will leverage your expertise to oversee CIBC’s global operational risk exposures. This includes providing strategic guidance on governance, operational risk management, and the implementation of robust control frameworks across people, technology, processes, and external events. You will ensure dedicated coverage for Risk Management and provide support for Treasury and Finance functions. You will collaborate with the Senior Director to contribute to senior management reporting, including regular operational risk updates for various risk governance committees and internal reports on key operational risk elements. How You'll Succeed Independent Challenge – Provide independent challenge to business lines’ operational and control assessments, review incidents, change initiatives, and risk & control self-assessments. As a second line of defense, demonstrate knowledge of Treasury and Finance and challenge senior bank employees to maintain robust risk management and controls. Advisory Support – Collaborate with partners and subject matter experts across the first and second lines of defense. Ensure operational risks are accurately identified, assessed, monitored, measured, and mitigated. Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk assessment tools and controls. Proactive Oversight – Identify material and emerging risks through proactive reviews and monitoring of key risk indicators and external events. Communicate concerns promptly to enable timely risk mitigation actions. Building Partnerships & Effective Communication – Establish and maintain strong working relationships with assigned businesses and risk associates. Promote a culture of controls and operational risk awareness. Manage senior internal relationships to support implementation of operational risk and control frameworks. Who You Are Experience in Risk Management, Treasury, Finance, and related areas including risk governance, controls, and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Strong critical thinking and attention to detail. Adept at investigating complex problems, making sense of data, and communicating information impactfully.
