Claims Specialist – Complex Injury, Accident Benefits Join to apply for the role at Intact. About the Role We’re looking for a Claims Specialist, Accident Benefits to join our complex injury team. The team handles all levels of accident benefit files with a strong understanding of legislation and regulations. Employees are detail‑oriented, communicate effectively, and possess strong analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills. Claims Specialists mentor and coach staff across the COE, supporting their development. This role is part of our hybrid working environment with support and training. Permanent positions are available across multiple locations in Ontario: Ottawa, Ajax, Mississauga, Toronto, Richmond Hill, and London. What You’ll Do Here Handle pending accident benefit files while receiving regular intake of complex and catastrophic claims. Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements that are fair and equitable. Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with claimants, lawyers, rehabilitation experts, and report findings. Conduct investigations and identify additional information such as independent medical examinations or customer medical/employment history required to clarify and/or justify a claim. Complete regular reporting and liaise with Technical Services to ensure appropriate action and reserving is in place. Collaborate consistently with Dispute Management Team adjusters on LAT disputed claims. Lead coaching initiatives. Complete other duties as assigned to assist the business. What You Bring to the Table University degree or any combination of relevant training and experience. At least 5+ years of accident benefit claims handling experience. Experience handling complex and catastrophic files is an asset. Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance. Experience negotiating and settling complex accident benefit files independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of staff. Excellent customer service skills.
