Family Physician/Clinical Associate – Northern Health, BC Join the Northern Health Department of Medicine to work as a Clinical Associate in our General Internal Medicine (GIM) program. Role Summary The GIM service is one of two inpatient services that admit complex medical patients on alternating nights. Clinical Associates work as part of a team that includes a general internist (MRP), clinical pharmacist, medical students and residents, and are supported by a strong family practice program. Clinical Associates manage day‑to‑day operations on the GIM ward and are responsible for daily patient care, progress notes, discharge summaries, and procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, and lumbar puncture. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on the GIM inpatient service. Document progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required documentation. Perform procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, and other select procedures in accordance with individual competence. Collaborate with the supervising general internist and the multidisciplinary team. Participate in occasional weekend rounding (no more than 1 in 4 nights) and no evening or overnight call. Qualifications Licensure or eligibility for licensure with the CPSBC. ACLS certification. Strong interest in acute‑care inpatient medicine. Hospitalist experience is an asset but not required. Procedural skills are an asset; training will be provided. Hours & Compensation General 08:00–16:00 h, Monday–Friday. Compensation approximately $300 k / yr. Locum opportunities available for a minimum commitment of one week. Location Northern Health – Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.
