Toronto, Canada Univeris Full time

Who We Are Univeris has been successfully building and modernizing wealth management software for over 30 years. We are the go‑to solution for many financial services firms (e.g., mutual fund dealers, securities dealers, wealth management firms, and insurance companies) that want to stay competitive in an intriguingly digital world. To date, more than 25,000 financial advisors and 1.5 million investors in 12 countries have converted to our money‑managed platform—with over $450B in Assets Under Administration. Why? Because we have the technology to streamline portfolio management, drive efficiencies, and improve productivity. At Univeris, we value talent and ideas. This means our employees have the freedom to do things they know would be great and meaningful for our clients and for the company. We’re looking for people who are creative, get excited by new opportunities to learn and grow, and feel at home in an organization that supports them. Ready to start your career? The Opportunity This is a pivotal role for a results‑driven and strategic leader to guide our technology operations and infrastructure teams. Reporting to the Director of Technology Operations, you will take ownership of maturing our DevOps and SRE practices, shifting the focus from feature implementation to operational excellence, stability, and predictability. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader passionate about building robust, scalable, and reliable systems. You will lead a talented team, drive the health of our production pipelines and SaaS operations, and establish clear processes that empower the team to work self‑sufficiently. This is a chance to be a key partner to the technology leadership team, providing strategic insights that drive the business forward. The Role Team Leadership & People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of DevOps and SRE engineers. Foster a collaborative, results‑oriented culture focused on problem resolution, not blame. Operational Excellence & Stability: Own the health, performance, and stability of our production CI/CD pipelines and SaaS operations for Toronto‑based systems. Application & Infrastructure Lifecycle Management: Plan, manage, and execute application and infrastructure upgrades to keep systems current, secure, and supportable. Process Development & Documentation: Design, implement, and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key operational activities, including incident response, deployments, and infrastructure changes. Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead planning, effort estimation, and prioritization of all team activities. Implement disciplined tracking to distinguish planned project work from unplanned operational incidents. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for DevOps and SRE. Communicate effectively with C‑level stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business impact. Infrastructure & Automation: Oversee the automation of public cloud resources (GCP, Azure, vSphere) using Infrastructure as Code best practices (Terraform, Packer, SaltStack). SRE & Monitoring: Drive implementation of SRE best practices to meet and exceed SLAs/SLOs. Champion use of application and infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Elastic Stack). Security & Compliance: Uphold and enhance security concepts within the DevOps lifecycle and support security operations across the organization. On‑Call & Incident Management: Participate in and manage an on‑call rotation to support critical systems and lead the incident management process for swift resolution. Your Formal Qualifications 5+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure roles, with at least 1‑2 years in a leadership or senior capacity. University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Your Proven Qualities Proven experience in people management, building and leading successful technical teams. A self‑driven and proactive mindset, able to identify operational needs and architect solutions without direct oversight. Strong project planning, effort estimation, prioritization, and tracking background. Experience developing and implementing SRE principles and robust SOPs in a production environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage senior leadership. Excellent technical writing and documentation skills, creating clear SOPs, architectural diagrams, and reports. Advanced knowledge of cloud and virtualization platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS, vSphere) and expertise with IaC tools (Terraform, SaltStack, Ansible). Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and associated tools (Bitbucket, Bamboo, Nexus, SonarQube). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong asset. Experience working in an agile environment. Extras You Might Offer As Tiebreakers Familiarity with the financial industry, wealth management, investments, FinTech, or other financial fields. Experience working for a wealth management, FinTech, or enterprise software vendor. The Work Environment Our mid‑size office is in a fantastic downtown location—just a five‑minute walk from Union Station, ideal for commuters and positioned on the edge of the Financial District. We work on a hybrid model with two in‑office days per week, combining in‑person collaboration with remote flexibility. Some work outside normal business hours may be required from time to time to support time‑constrained activities or to collaborate with remote teams. Our Culture We have an inclusive work environment that is collaborative, dynamic, and open to new ideas. We incorporate integrity, honesty, and commitment into all aspects of our business. From an open‑door policy to engaging company events, we empower, value, and celebrate our employees. Benefits and Perks Competitive compensation reviewed twice a year. Robust health benefits, including a yearly health care spending account available from day one and a matching RRSP contribution program. Schedule flexibility—support for personal appointments and early pick‑ups. Regular social events (in‑person and virtual), care packages, team lunches, and more. Work from almost anywhere policy: work from anywhere for up to three months. Vacation entitlement increases with tenure. Personal and sick days provided organization‑wide. Professional development and growth opportunities in a high‑growth mode with mergers, acquisitions, massive projects, and evolving post‑pandemic dynamics. At Univeris, we embrace diversity and inclusion and are committed to equal employment opportunity. We welcome applications from qualified individuals from all backgrounds.
