Location: Surrey, British Columbia, CanadaUnion: BCGEU collective agreementStatus: Temporary, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)End Date: 1 year upon the start dateDays of work: 6‑week rotation. Weeks 1, 3 & 5 – all Sundays (variable Monday to Friday). Weeks 2, 4 & 6 – all Saturdays (variable Monday to Friday)Hours: Variable shifts between 6 am and midnightDiscipline: Microbiology (cross‑training in Urinalysis and/or Molecular departments as needed)Start Date: ASAPNumber of positions: 1 LifeLabs provides 24‑hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and offers teaching opportunities for college and university students. Your Responsibilities Conduct a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing. Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation. Perform, interpret and release results while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identify incidents and non‑conformities, develop corrective action plans, and drive continuous improvement. Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technology. Participate in problem‑solving to improve work organization and workflow. Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards. What You’ll Bring College diploma or university degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education/experience. CSMLS registration in good standing. Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills in a fast‑paced team while maintaining safety, accuracy and efficiency. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a curious mindset. Ability to distinguish multiple colours. Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory analyzers. Problem‑solving abilities and follow‑up on issues. Adherence to strict safety, patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
