Do you want to join the Finance team of one of the most exciting space companies at the forefront of global change detection/change monitoring? We are looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant who will be responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions. This is a Vancouver-based hybrid position, with some in-office work required. Candidates must have full-time availability during the business hours of 9am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required.PREPARE FOR IMPACT Reporting to the Accounting Manager and working closely with other members of the Accounting and Finance team, the Sr. Corporate Accountant is a hands-on role responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions, maintaining the general ledger, processing month-ends, and other duties to support the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting foundation with full-cycle supervisory accounting experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity environment. Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to work closely with finance, sales, and customer service while also reviewing work completed by Accounting Technicians, overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, and working with external tax advisors and auditors.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger/Day-to-Day Accounting Overall maintenance of GL for parent company and subsidiariesGeneral Ledger/Day-to-Day Accounting Review work completed by the Accounting Technicians, including monthly journal entries, working papers and GL account reconciliations; etc. Review monthly bank and credit card reconciliationsGeneral Ledger/Day-to-Day Accounting Prepare month-end working papers and reconciliationsGeneral Ledger/Day-to-Day Accounting Maintain capital asset sub-ledger and record monthly depreciationAccounts Payable/Receivable Oversee accounts payable and ensure accuracy (POs, payment runs, and proposed payment listing; maintain familiarity with vendors, overdue payments, etc.)Accounts Payable/Receivable Review coding on corporate credit card statements & expense reportsAccounts Payable/Receivable Review and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure reporting is up to dateAccounts Payable/Receivable Review HubSpot and Maxio for new deals won, update billing, and review revenue reconciliationAccounts Payable/Receivable Prepare/review customer invoices as requiredAccounts Payable/Receivable Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between finance, sales, and customer service teams to ensure accurate and timely billing.Financial Reporting/Month-end Prepare month-end journal entries (revenue, cost of sales, accruals, currency revaluation etc.) and reconcile general ledger accountsFinancial Reporting/Month-end Process month-end close in the ERP system, consolidation entries, FX translation, and assess completeness of close, journal and rec checklists etc.Financial Reporting/Month-end Prepare certain month-end WPs & reconciliations; bonus, vacation, prepaids, revenue accrual, deferred and unbilled revenue, professional fees, accrued liabilities, labour reclass, APIC contributions, commissions accrual, Actual to budget analysis, reconcile intercompany balances, prepare quarterly management fees and recharges)Financial Reporting/Month-end Prepare AR listings for month-end reporting deckFinancial Reporting/Month-end Prepare monthly Fixed Assets and Intangibles continuity working papersFinancial Reporting/Month-end Prepare monthly consolidated financials statements including consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash FlowQuarterly and Year End Corporate Reporting Prepare financial statement note disclosure for capital assets, intangible assets and other notes as assigned and assist with preparation of audit working papersQuarterly and Year End Corporate Reporting Lead year end audit requests for relevant areas of the GL and/or entitiesQuarterly and Year End Corporate Reporting Assist with preparation of FS notes in accordance with relevant accounting standardsTax/Regulatory Filings Assist with preparation of corporate tax returns and providing backup to external tax advisorsTax/Regulatory Filings Prepare GST/PST/US Sales tax returns & other misc. filingsTax/Regulatory Filings Prepare year-end tax note WP & disclosurePayroll & Bonus Review/prepare payroll journal, ensuring appropriate accruals are recordedPayroll & Bonus Ensure sufficient funds in bank accounts on payroll & benefit funding dates Collaborate with Humi on manae monthly and quarterly EHT accruals, including preparing accrual working papers and journal entries, while ensuring sufficient funds are available for quarterly EHT payments.Other Support Assist with process improvements to accounting processes and ensure coding is according to budgetOther Support Provide guidance, support and coverage to Accounting Technicians as requiredOther Support Assist in new accounting software implementationOther Support Other duties as assignedYour Past MissionsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA designation is required5+ years of full-cycle accounting experiencePublic practice experience in a supervisory/review capacityHigh-tech industry (or similar) experienceExperience with ERPs (NetSuite); QBO, Tipalti, Maxio experience an assetExperience in dealing with multiple currencies and multi-entity environmentsYour ToolkitPossess a strong technical accounting foundation with expertise in US GAAP, complemented by robust research skills to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reportingDetail-oriented and able to coordinate multiple activities at the same timeStrong interpersonal skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skillsAbility to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven changing environmentCompensationBase Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000 CAD annually. The range is based on Vancouver, BC-derived compensation for this role. Individual placement in the range is determined based on many factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
