Join us and design your place with Stantec.Your OpportunityAs a Mechanical Engineer in our Moncton office, you will work independently on small and average sized projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices.Your ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, select, specify, and engineer all mechanical engineered systems or products for a project and assuring work is reviewed for overall technical accuracyCollaborate in person or remotely with team members, other Stantec disciplines, and clients to achieve project success, acting as a project team member or a project leaderEngage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formatsUtilize BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems and provide markups for junior engineers/ designersPrepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and detailsLead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendorsParticipate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimatingAssist upper level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and scheduleLead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documentsPerform and oversee the development of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer softwareConduct quality assurance and quality control on projectsConduct field reviews of projects during construction to verify conformance with construction documents and provide letters of professional assurance to the applicable authorities having jurisdictionWorks on multiple projectsYour Capabilities and CredentialsStrong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead project tasks and activitiesMust be self-motivated, team oriented, efficient, and a good communicatorBe comfortable in a client-facing position and in the fieldStrong collaborative skills while working with a single or multi-discipline teamEffective written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual (English and French) would be a major assetStrong organizational and time management skills. Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleIntermediate or strong project management skillsAbility to follow Stantec's quality control guidelinesUnderstanding the importance of complying with Stantec's Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program, with a focus on safety in the fieldDesire to be mentored by Senior staff and to adapt to feedback as requiredProficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace & IES would be an assetRequisite knowledge and application of the mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codesStrong knowledge of mechanical systems (fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, controls), means and methods, materials, and industry standardsEducation and ExperienceA Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university. Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick. Minimum Of 8 Years Of Applicable Experience Is Required. Experience creating tender document packages, including detailed drawings and specifications is required. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
