OverviewCommunity Disability Worker, Various Weekend Positions — Robin Hood AssociationJoin to apply for the Community Disability Worker, Various Weekend Positions role at Robin Hood Association.Base pay rangeCA$17.44/hr - CA$21.56/hrScheduleSaturdays & Sundays: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PMSaturdays & Sundays: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PMSaturdays & Sundays: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PMRole and responsibilitiesImplement individual service plans designed to support and assist adults, youth and children with development, community support, behaviour management and/or personal care.Provide direct care and services to individuals as scheduled; communicate in advance to direct supervisor for all changes and/or absences of scheduled shifts.Assist and support individuals to participate in personal life planning, goal setting and opportunities for personal growth, with respect for the individual’s leads and family input where appropriate.Support individuals in establishing and maintaining respectful relationships within the community to promote meaningful participation in employment, volunteering, recreation, and other activities.Promote safe environments by identifying and reporting hazards in physical spaces, and ensure safety of individuals and staff.Remain awake, aware and vigilant during shifts unless assigned to a sleep shift (and paid accordingly).Demonstrate a minimal standard of physical capability relevant to the duties; work in any program area as needed during staffing shortages or emergencies.Maintain clear and objective records and prepare required reports and documentation.Communicate professionally and respectfully with individuals, families, guardians, staff and community representatives.Understand and respect individual rights and responsibilities; support nutrition and sanitation according to individual plans.Provide information, orientation and support to new individuals and their guardians; assist with required checklists.Assist individuals to achieve personal goals and develop life skills, independence and community participation; model appropriate behaviours and support inclusive community involvement.Assist with transportation as required; provide transportation in personal vehicles when needed by the program or individual.Support and encourage the development of personal home living skills and, where required, participate in care and maintenance of the home environment.Assist with direct care of high-needs or medically fragile individuals as required.Respond to complex situations by referring to more experienced staff or supervisors when appropriate.Participate in team meetings and provide feedback as necessary for evaluations of practicum students, relief staff and volunteers.Contribute to ongoing improvements by recommending changes to Policies and Procedures.Additional responsibilities may be assigned by Supervisors, Program Manager or Director as needed.Qualifications and educationComfort with basic medical support; medication administration or health-related needs preferred.Post-secondary education preferred; foundations in Community Rehabilitation and Disabilities Studies is a plus.Completion of mandatory training courses as required.Basic coaching and mentoring skills with ability to adapt approaches.Effective communication and time management skills; ability to balance priorities and seek assistance when needed.Ability to work varied shift schedules in physically/emotionally challenging situations; strong teamwork and independent work capability.Positive attitude, mature work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to set priorities and complete tasks in a timely fashion.Preferred SkillsComfort with medical supports; willingness to learn and be flexible as a team player.Openness to feedback; strong computer, organizational and communication skills.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionOtherIndustriesCivic and Social Organizations #J-18808-Ljbffr
