AECOM is a Fortune 500 firm.Our Ground Engineering United Kingdom and Ireland (UK&I) team comprises 150 people and provides services including project management, feasibility studies, ground investigation design and interpretation, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for ground engineering works in UK&I and overseas. We work for leading UK and international clients across energy, water, nuclear, power, transport, and development sectors, with a portfolio of regional and national projects.ResponsibilitiesDesk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and geomorphological mappingContribute to the design, planning and procurement of ground investigationsSupervision of ground investigation fieldworkGeological interpretation and preparation of interpretative reportsAnalysis of geotechnical data, preparation of ground models, design and reporting on foundations, retaining walls, soil slope stability, earthworks, rock slope stabilisationUse of digital software including Openground for ground investigation data management and Leapfrog for 3D geological modellingOpportunity to develop analysis and modelling skills with 2D and 3D numerical analysis packagesQualificationsA degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology / Geology, with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or aboveAn MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous; essential for candidates with a BSc in GeologyCompetent in Microsoft Office; competent use of AutoCAD/Civil 3D desirableGeotechnical work experience is preferred but not essentialWilling and able to work towards professional qualifications (ICE, IOM3 or The Geological Society)Demonstrable interest in geotechnical projects and promoting geotechnical activities with clientsFlexible and willing to work away from home on sites and occasionally in other officesMotivated to meet client and business expectations with awareness of wider commercial implicationsEffective communicator, both verbally and in writingAbility to structure and prioritise work, and to work independently with initiativeAdditional InformationOur 2 year Graduate Development Programme (GDP) and diverse global projects are designed to develop talent and leadership across disciplines.
