The salary range for this position is CAD $36.69 - $45.81 / hour.Position: casual Radiological Technologist at Royal Columbian Hospital.ResponsibilitiesPerforms general duty radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures consistent with established standards, procedures, radiation protection practices and protocols. Works with radiologists, physicians and other health care professionals.Performs requested examinations observing departmental standards, routines and radiation protection practices during procedures by operating radiographic and computerized imaging equipment.Completes procedures using appropriate equipment, labels permanent records, maintains and updates records in RIS/PACS, checks image quality, refers problems in image quality to the supervisor, and stores digital images.Explains procedures and provides instructions to patients/clients, answering questions as needed.Collects relevant clinical data for procedures, documents individualized patient care and updates records in the database accordingly.Prepares contrast agents and tray setups for examinations, disposes of items per hospital policy, and cleans instruments for return to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department.Monitors patient care and safety, ensuring procedures adhere to department standards and policies.Contributes to quality improvement and risk management procedures and processes.Performs equipment cleaning, testing, quality control, minor adjustments, and arranges for repairs as needed; maintains supplies and the technical area.Performs a variety of clerical duties related to patient demographics, histories and data entry.Participates in instruction of employees and/or students; assists with departmental orientations and in-service presentations.Participates in approved research and special projects in collaboration with supervisor and other health care professionals.Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs using monitoring and auditing methodologies for quality assurance (e.g., patient/physician satisfaction, booking protocols).Adheres to health and safety requirements and reports unsafe situations promptly.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceCertification with the CAMRT.Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.Ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.Knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the designated modality.Knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including safe work procedures with modality equipment.Knowledge of the research process and methodology.Knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, co-workers, physicians and external agencies.Ability to operate related equipment and work independently or collaboratively.Ability to establish workload priorities with others; CPR knowledge; computer skills for patient care information systems.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.About Fraser HealthFraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, on the traditional lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations.
