We’re all-in on the future and our most ambitious Battlefield yet.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer, who is passionate about developing systems and services to support the live operations and online gameplay for our millions of users. You will work in small teams that collaborate to create solutions for the Battlefield Franchise, using modern technologies and frameworks deployed to cloud-based infrastructure. You will work with multiple existing systems; some developed here at Battlefield Foundational Tech, some developed externally. This will require collaborating with lots of different teams within EA. You will report into a Development Director. You will work at the office located in Montreal with the possibility of hybrid work 2 days a week.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze feature designs and propose technical solutions for how they can be implementedDevelop distributed and resilient servicesAdapt central EA technologies to meet game design needsDeploy services on cloud-based infrastructures such as KubernetesOversee performance and stability at the service levelDevelop live tools that we use to manage all aspects of our live gamesIntegrate the tooling platform with other internal servicesQualifications5+ years of experience in distributed, scalable, resilient, high-performing systemsExperience with Docker or similar container formats, modern stacksKnowledge of Kubernetes or modern stacksKnowledge of Git, or similar distributed source management systemExperience with cloud deployment, as AWSExperience with continuous integration and deliveryRequired Skills5+ years of experience with functional languages (Scala, Kotlin)Ability to design scalable and maintainable software systemsProficiency in modern open-source stacks including gRPC, Finagle, and Linkerd/EnvoyStrong analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve complex technical challengesExcellent teamwork and communication skills for working in a cross-functional environmentExpertise in optimizing code for performance and efficiencyPreferred SkillsKnowledge of LinuxKnowledge of Java or C# and C++Previous experience in the video game industryContributions to Open-Source projects are a plusInterested in or experience from the gaming industry - greatSeniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeIndustriesEntertainment ProvidersReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at Electronic Arts (EA) by 2xWe’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
