Specialist, Business Controls & Data Analytics Join to apply for the Specialist, Business Controls & Data Analytics role at EPCOR We are hiring one (1) Specialist, Business Controls & Data Analytics [Full Time, Permanent] position in Edmonton, AB – a strategic and highly technical role that blends advanced data analytics with operational planning and business controls. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Customer Care’s Workforce Planning and Energy Services (Canada and United States) through forecasting, regulatory support, performance optimization, and data‑informed decision‑making. This role requires strong technical proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, and Power Query, along with the ability to translate complex data, present clear insights and actionable recommendations to senior leaders. If you’re passionate about using data to drive operational excellence and influence strategic decisions, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact at EPCOR Responsibilities Analyze and monitor workforce planning at the portfolio level, including budgeting, forecasting, regulatory filings, and identifying operational risks and recovery strategies. Develop and maintain business control standards and processes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness across Customer Care’s Workforce Planning Team. Support business development through research and analysis, contribute to strategic recommendations for EPCOR’s Energy Services group, and engage with external stakeholders. Create automated reports and queries using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL and Python. Drive continuous improvement in Customer Care operations by developing and executing operational plans related to workforce planning, performance management, operational efficiency, and business sustainability. Research, evaluate, and recommend new business opportunities, engaging third parties and analyzing regulatory environments to inform strategic direction. Develop advanced analytic models for forecasting and business process optimization, including building and testing statistical models and conducting scenario planning. Represent Customer Care on cross‑functional projects, leading change management efforts and engaging stakeholders. Review and reinforce adherence to data governance principles within Customer Care, identifying gaps to ensure data integrity. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related field such as Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance or Computer Science. 5+ years of demonstrated analytical experience in a business environment. Strong skills in data analysis, forecasting, and performance measurement coupled with operational and financial budgeting capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Power BI, Power Query etc.) and complementary technologies (SQL, Python). Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders. High attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality deliverables. Disciplined, accountable and results‑driven approach, with a focus on safety, innovation and collaboration. Assets (Nice‑to‑Haves) Experience working in workforce or business operations planning. Experience working in a regulated utility. Experience in a multi‑faceted client‑focused or customer service environment. Eligibility and Requirements You must be at least 18 years of age, have successfully obtained a high‑school diploma (GED or equivalent), and be legally entitled to work in Canada. Background checks (criminal, identity, educational, credit) and professional reference checks are required. Advanced criminal record checks may be required. A technical or practical assessment may be administered during the selection process.
